    Material: Lat. blaterō, -üre “ chatter, babble, empty gossip; also from shout of the camel, ram, frog”, blatiō, -īre “babble, prattle “; M.N.Ger. plad(d)eren “chat, prate”, Mod.N.Ger. pladdern ‘splash, besprinkle “, Swe. pladder “ loose gossip”, Dan. bladre ‘spread lose gossip “, older also ‘splash”, lacking of consonant shift in onomatopoeic word. Similar to onomatopoeic words are N.Ger. plapperen (Ger. plappern), M.H.G. plappen and blappen, O.H.G.blabizōn “babble” and M.N.Ger. plūderen “babble” (M.H.G. plūdern , Ger. plaudern). compare with partly similar meaning bhlē̆ d- “ to bubble up, chat”, bhel- ‘sound” and bal-, bal-bal- under baba- (e.g. Lith. blebénti with Ger. plappern similar formation).
